I absolutely adored this. Maybe not as much as I adored ‘sour candy’ by this author, but enough that it got me in my feels. I definitely felt the need to hug my family closer after reading this. Which might not be what you’d expect from a horror. But this is a super grief heavy horror. This poor dude in this book went through so much. If you want something both sad and eerie, this is it! I think this author explored grief pretty well, on top of that.

It’s disturbing, it’s deep, it’s “witchy” in a sense (if you read it you’ll know what I mean. I’m not saying it’s about witches though), and it has truly haunting and disturbing imagery in it. Like you know the guy who did the artwork for the scary stories to tell in the dark books? Yeah I picture the paranormal entity that’s in this book to be done in his pen.

Such a profound and emotional little novella. I feel like we got to know the MC a decent amount for the number of pages, and I feel like it concluded wonderfully and nightmare inducing-ly. This author is just so talented! He even got me to feel love for a character that I started out not liking (the MCs wife).

Definitely has an ending that is absolutely disturbing and makes you think all the same. And the old man….I’ll definitely be wondering about him some tonight.

This book does a good job at disjointing reality just like sour candy did! I really can’t recommend this author enough!
