I really enjoyed this book. I can't give it all five stars, though. This may only be because I read how great it was, and that usually makes it just not quite as good for me.
This was a full circle book. The reader connected with the author and Marley right from the beginning. The entire book I knew I would have to deal with Marleys inevitable death, but I still was not prepared. One of my own dogs was at my side as I sobbed the last pages of the book.
Animal lovers - especially dog owners, I feel - have a certain connection with their animals and John Grogan showed it perfectly. Dogs are selfless and love us no matter what.
There were stereotypes in this book I did not particular care for. For example, the pitbull. The author fed somewhat into the stereotype. However, he did offset it slightly by Marley spending time with the pitbull and being friends.
I highly recommend this book to any animal lover. Also, it is a great read for those people that don't quite understand the human-animal connection.
