I like the book/series (I'm on book 7 now) but the inherent misogyny in the series is appalling. I keep checking the publication dates because at points all the kids in shop class are boys, all the kids in home ec are girls, and it even refers to an "expectant fathers" waiting room at a hospital - that's not a thing, hasn't been in several decades. Expectant fathers are in the labor & delivery room.
One of the characters is a realtor and, as a realtor, the way she is portrayed as manipulative and "learned that at real estate school" is simply irritating.
"Dating" is antiquated too, to the point where it irritated me sometimes.
Tl;dr if you can get past the anachronistic social things, the murder mystery parts are pretty good.
