After watching the Netflix movie, I decided that I wanted to check out the source material. I’m so glad I did! “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before,” by Jenny Han, is the sweetest YA romance and exactly what I needed at the time.

Like most romance books, “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” is not particularly groundbreaking. It relies on some tried and true tropes and likable characters to tell a sweet story.

Something that I found particularly refreshing about Han’s book was how realistic her teenage characters were. Many YA books feature main characters that are teenagers only because of their age, acting and talking like adults. But the main characters in Han’s book talk like teenagers and make some of the same questionable choices that I would have made at that age. Although not strictly necessary, it added some depth to the story and made it more enjoyable.
