This volume is action packed. King Canute aims to take Ketil’s farm. Lots of action and suspense happens. The volume wraps in an offbeat way. This series has quickly become one of my favorites because of all the variety in the storytelling.
Graphic: Bullying, Death, Gore, Mental illness, Misogyny, Physical abuse, Sexism, Slavery, Toxic relationship, Violence, Blood, Trafficking, Grief, Religious bigotry, Murder, Schizophrenia/Psychosis , Gaslighting, Alcohol, Colonisation, War, Injury/Injury detail, and Classism
This volumes is very violent, the warfare fought on Ketil’s farm is brutal. There are also recurring horror elements regarding King Canute that are very spooky. The protagonist Thorfinn also does a sort of penance at a part in the book that’s quite violent. If you’ve read past volumes you know what to expect.
