Mythos: The Greek Myths Retold
by Stephen Fry
I don’t know where to start with this book! I never really knew much about Greek mythology, but I was inspired to read this after going to an exhibition at the British Museum and damn am I now hooked. Stephen writes about such a complicated family tree of gods that anyone can understand it, and even if you can’t you can still see the joy in the tales! How bees came about, gods sit in trees, the seasons born through pomegranate seeds, the story of dawn, the birth of narcissus, the trust extent lust, love and gruesome punishment and so much more - I already want to re-read this and talk to everyone about it to help my brain process it all!!
I highly recommend if you want your imagination to come back to life and feel like a kid again. You’ll catch me reading Circe or Heroes next !
