Saga, Vol. 2 by Brian K. Vaughan

4.0

I am LOVING this series. I just read volume 1 over the holidays (after many friends have been recommending it to me for the past year) and it's fantastic. A sci-fi/fantasy version of Romeo and Juliet - with more horns - it's the story of Marko (horns) and Alana (wings) from two different planets who are at war, but they've secretly married and have just had a baby. In this volume Marko and Alana have to face his parents (who aren't exactly partial to the idea that he's married a girl with wings) and then they split up, with Alana remaining with Marko's dad on the ship while Marko and his mom go to another planet to get Izabel back (she disappeared at the end of the previous volume). Vaughan's banter is at its biting and hilarious best, while Fiona Sharp's drawings are SPECTACULAR. And as annoying as Lying Cat is, every time he's in a scene and mutters, "Lying..." I giggle. I can't wait for volume 3!
