5.0

One of Ursula Le Guin's less-appreciated abilities is her sharp, delicious characterization of wildly arrogant men. Watching the antagonist Dr. Haber spiral through increasing confidence in himself and hunger for power is reason enough on its own to read this book.

The bigger reasons I leave unstated.
