For those of you wondering what the deal is with 'The Embraced' and 'Embraced by Magic' series start with 2 different books: The publishers are different.
Kerrelyn Sparks intended 'The Embraced' series to be 5 books long, one for each of the sisters, but the publishing company she was working with before wanted to end the series as a trilogy. When she got picked back up by Kensington they had the series re-branded.

It's confusing for new reading but I am glad that I have finally laid that mystery to rest.

Now I have finally gone back and read the first book of 'The Embraced' series. I wish I could go back in time and tell myself to wait until I got my hands on this book to begin the series. All of the plot points that are set in this book are spoiled if you read 'How to love your Elf' which is the first book in the 'Embraced by Magic' series. As frustrating as this is I will not count this against Kerrelyn Sparks as it was out of her control.

This was, so far, my favorite book in the entire series. Luciana and Leo's story truly felt like a love story mixed in with adventure. Both of our protagonist had clear motivations in all of their actions and I really enjoyed Luciana's relationship with all of her sisters and Leo's with his friends. Everything felt very natural.

Where I will take points off is once again, and I guess for the first time, we have the innocent girl and experienced man trope. Over and over again we are reminded that Luciana is a virgin. A fact that Leo grossly hangs onto.
SpoilerThis is a reminder that virgins do not bleedthis is a long perpetuated myth that I am tired of reading
. The end of the book is also very rushed. We are treated to a wonderful love story only to be bombarded by plot point after plot point at the end.

The Embraced series is junk food for me and I recommend it to anyone who wants to pick up a new fantasy romance.
