Lu used to spend every summer at her grandparents house on Bald Island, North Carolina riding golf carts, going to the beach, and spending time with her family. Summer was Lu's favorite time of the year, especially the summer she turned eighteen and fell in love with Riley, the housekeeper's son, who was her first for everything. Now ten year's later, Lu is back for her best friend's wedding and face to face with the man who broke her heart.
This was a fun read that was a great start to the series. I loved young Lu and Riley in chapter one. They had that quintessential young love that was so sweet. It was hard to see how heartbroken adult Lu was ten years later, but I totally understood why. I loved how Riley worked to gain her trust and helped her come back to herself. He's inspired by Glen Powell, which did make it easy to love him.
I saw a review that said the spice was too much, which admittedly, made me want to read it even more. I thought the spice was good. It was perfect Jessica Peterson spice. If you've read book two in her Sex and Bonds series, then you know what I mean.
