I didn’t really enjoy this book. I felt like it could have been at least 100 pages shorter, and the first few chapters had way too much reflection. I get wanting to give some backstory, but it felt like nothing but backstory for the first 100 pages and mixed in quite a bit still after that. The FMC and MMC seemed to hate each other for literally NO reason, which does not make a good “enemies to lovers” trope. But it also felt too trope-y in other ways that were just bland and boring to me.
The only part I really enjoyed was the cliffhanger at the end to set up the next book in the series, but I still don’t think it was enough to keep me reading this series. There just wasn’t enough spark or something for me. I think if you are the type of reader who enjoys a story with lots of background and lots of tropes (cowboy, enemies to lovers, workplace romance, he falls first…) you will love this book.
