Love Is a Mix Tape by Rob Sheffield

emotional funny informative reflective sad fast-paced

4.0

First finished book of 2024!
Listened on Libby

Audiobook was read by the author so it felt even more personal than it would if I read it in my own voice.
I accidentally fell into this book. I skimmed the synopsis and determined it was kind of a "Nick and Nora's infinite playlist" type of story; I didn't realize it was an autobiographical memoir.
Heartfelt and full of love. corn corn corn! Full of corny phrases and ideas that revolve around Renee and robs  relationship as well as universal cliches that seem insincere until you remember this is a man's true feelings and not fictional characters someone is modeling after multiple aspects of their life. The cliches become true and meaningful. This book is both an ode to Renee, to music, to robs life before everything changed. Very quick read. Emotional.
Also- definitely check out the playlist on Spotify with all songs mentioned in the book. Phenomenal
