Master and Apprentice

I could read about Jedi all day, all the time. I haven’t had much success in finding a really good Star Wars book lately. But this one was very fun.
I was especially glad to see Qui-Gon Jinn as the lead here. I’m not much of a fan of the prequels, but he was solid in Phantom Menace and then poof he’s gone. This story gets to flesh him out a bit and adds in the problems he and Obi-Wan are having with each other. It was a very interesting angle to take by the author and I applaud it.
There are other character viewpoints in this and while I’m usually not a fan cause you can get stuck with a boring side character for a large chunk of a book (*coughcough* See Eragon books, Roran chapters) I actually didn’t mind them here. Pax and Rahara segments are usually interesting and, more importantly, quick!
Qui-Gon holds it all together and I really liked his character. He’s a bit of a rebel by Jedi standards and I liked exploring that through him.
This was a fun, fast read with surprising depth that had a lot to say about the grey areas of right and wrong in many aspects of life. I highly recommend it.
