A Lady on the Chase
by Jessica Scarlett
"I wish to prepare you. Mr. Wycliffe is not some shy fellow incapable of forming a sentence. Don't let his books deceive you -- he is tediously clever and quite simply the horridest man to ever walk the earth."
And now I must prepare you dear reader. Clear your schedules because the binge is REAL with this one. Oh how I love a Jessica Scarlett book, and after reading this recent edition to the Wycliffe family series, and I want to go back and re read them all.
I am always sucker for good BANTER. And now I am a sucker for Matthew. In all honesty I had a ridiculous smile plastered on my face for a grand majority of this book.
What do you get when you cross an anti-social recluse with a lady who can't help but get wrapped up in Scandal? A really good time. What I loved about this book is the push and pull of chemistry between these two characters. Its the type that will make you scream..."just kiss already" but you know you'll have to settle in for the long haul. It's a real enemies to lovers with sweet and tender moments laced in between cleverly aimed barbs.
I don't want to spoil a thing for you but just know, its good. And as frustrated as I was with these characters and their choices, it was these characteristics that made the story was it was.
I read this in a single day, lost a lot of sleep but 100% don't regret it. Please read these in order for the greatest enjoyment as characters appearing in the first books all appear in the sequential ones after.
