I read this book twice by accident, but a Nicholas Sparks book is always a Nicholas Sparks book, and a pleasure to read over and over again. I give it a 4-star rating only because Nights in Rodanthe, See Me and The Notebook spoiled it for me. The mastery with which Sparks draws readers into the story, making them feel the characters' emotions as their own makes up for the slow pace and unremarkable happy ending.
