One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
2.0

One of those books that very obviously would perform better in some sort of film or one hour TV adaptation, because there's no real story or characters and the visceral living of the gulag benefits from being seen than read about. I can't say my impression of what a Soviet prison camp would look like changed, but that is due to Solzhenitsyn's influence as much as everything. Not much fun! Not that I expected any.
