The Color Purple by Alice Walker

I am so glad that I finally read this! It was such a real story that spanned the life of Celie that was both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. The female relationships in this book were outstanding and I felt such joy, experiencing the journey Celie had learning what a woman was and could be. The growth in the characters felt so rewarding. And I loved the sisterhood bond with Celie and Nettie even though they had been apart with no communication for so long. They kept their relationship alive in their letters to each other and never lost faith that they would reunite one day. This was just amazing!
