Always Him by Cora Rose
5.0
An enjoyable read/listen, but I def liked the first book better. Which sucks because I was really excited for more disability rep, and I think she handled that pretty well, don’t get me wrong. It just… wasn’t exactly what I was hoping for? And Landon drove me fucking nuts with how dense and selfish he was during the “feeling Finn out and deciding his jealousy is because he has *feelings* feelings for him” portion of the book. He didn’t think about Finn’s feelings at all, never questioned if he was okay with all the sexual stuff, never asked what he wanted. Just… knew Finn never said no to him and assumed he was fine fooling around with no feelings. But it was killing Finn inside to be doing it “with no feelings” — which, I think the flashbacks were SUPER important to the story but also a bit of a cop out because we don’t get to *know* that the phase is killing him because we don’t get Finn’s perspective in real time until the end of the book with the plot twist that I … admittedly didn’t find necessary. But that’s just me!
Things I did like, because this feels all negative and that’s at odds with the five star rating:
-Finn’s devotion
-The ways Finn takes care of Landon
-The sexual chemistry & all the spicy scenes
-I love that there was some kink thrown in with breath play
-The Lewis family in general lol (I wanted more Theo though)
-Landon’s jealousy/beef with the goat, Vincent
-I liked that we got the running epilogue, I kept hoping he’d be able to do that
-Landon not having a crisis about his sexuality “changing” from straight to bi; he just totally rolled with it, total acceptance that it was Finn and that was all that mattered
