SUCH a solid start to the series, and entry into the grishaverse.
I knew next to nothing about this series before starting it, but I was thoroughly entertained throughout the entirety of this book.
It’s fairly fast paced, with lots of twists and turns near the end. The characters are well written and the magic system is so intriguing. Miss Leigh never fails to write a good story.
I think at times the FMC irritated me and that’s why this book wasn’t quite a 5 star. It’s also quite a short book so I really wasn’t expecting anything revolutionary, but this was a really great book. Super easy to comprehend what was happening, very beginner fantasy friendly as well.
The touch of romance in there too was not asked for but well appreciated as well
