Supernova by Marissa Meyer

3.0

I don't really know what to say. I was a latecomer to this series. I only read the first two books a few weeks ago but I really liked them. Maybe my expectations going into this novel were too high. I really thought that Marissa Meyer would do the thing and deliver an amazing finale to this series. I was left feeling deflated.

The beginning was fine but the more I read the less content I felt. I found myself wondering why this was happening. All of the characters felt kind of flat. I've always had a problem with Nova's repetitive inner monologues and that continues into this book. Yes, Nova, I've been reading a long. I get what's happening. You don't need to keep explaining it to me.

The ending to me felt kind of rushed and I feel like there were a few gaping plot holes that I won't dig into for the sake of spoilers. I think there were other ways this could have all gone down that would have done the books more justice.

So, yeah, the final battle was disappointing. I think the actual conclusion of book was worse though. A lot changed but it was never really explained. We barely found out what happened to the characters. I honestly didn't really like how that played out, explanation or no.

And of course, the epilogue that everyone is freaking out about. I hated it. I saw the plot twist coming and it made me cringe. I'm guessing this is a bridge for a spin off series and I'm not really here for it.

2.5 stars, but I rounded it up to 3. I honestly couldn't tell you why.
