The Queen's Poisoner by Jeff Wheeler
4.0

I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy this book at the very beginning of it, but within a few chapters, I was hooked. I began to follow some of the history and genealogy of the characters and how everything tied together, as well as the little journal excerpts from the spy Mancini between chapters. I enjoyed the relationships that Owen developed throughout the book, between both the adults and Evie. This is a long series, so I know there is a lot going to develop throughout the series with the characters, but this first book was well-done, intriguing, full of humor, some mystery, action, sadness, so much going on but not overwhelming. I'm looking forward to finishing the series and seeing where everything goes and develops further with Owen, Evie, Dominic, the king, and more.
