Mohsin is professionally well known, very successful and is an inspiring lawyer and Stonewall trustee. I was ready for an eloquent, powerful and informative read. I wasn't expecting how lost and isolated Mohsin was. His desperation and self hate are raw, tangible and extremely moving.
Of course, being Pakistani, Muslim and gay would be difficult and challenging but I was genuinely shocked to read how young Mohsin was when he began to struggle with his sexuality and how impactful it was on every part of his life.
How Mohsin overcomes all that life had to throw at him is genuinely inspiring, interesting, messy and honest. Everyone needs to read this book. We can all learn from Mohsin's story no matter what we are wrestling with.
