This book is so poorly edited that it distracted from my ability to enjoy the story. I'm not just talking words missing and bad grammar, the timelines are also all over the place. One minute you think one day has passed and the next, the protag is talking about how it's been several days or months. The love interest talks about how "every" interaction they have follows a certain theme, but as far as the reader knows they've interacted like, two or three times only? But then wait, now several months have passed so maybe not? But wait again, it's only been a week?
The backstory and magical lore is also very poorly developed. It's all quite superficial and a bit lazy. Maybe this is meant to be a "no thinking necessary" read but because I read so much of this genre I have a lot to compare to and this just doesn't hold a candle really.
I didn't hate it but of all the witchy romance type books out there, this would be very low on my list of recommendations.
