Sedaris's creative nonfiction, his autobiographical essays, are as charming, offbeat, and funny as ever. However, I'm not big on the short monologue-style fiction that is interspersed throughout the book. I assume it's meant to be satirical, but it comes off as self-indulgent and alarmingly judgmental. It's quite jarring a shift between the two styles, really.
