Up Jumps the Devil by Michael Poore

5.0

I've just recently realized that my favorite type of books are spiritual-philosophical-humorous-thought provoking-fantasy stories about love that lasts forever -- and even longer. The kind of books that Michael Poore writes. I think his second book "Reincarnation Blues" was just a hair better because of its magnificent ending. But this book about the devil's efforts to make earth into a place that his long-lost love, the angel Arden, can stand to leave heaven for was nearly perfect. Fully-drawn characters, great lines on every page, and it leaves you with the hope that maybe, just maybe, we're not completely doomed.
Actually, I'm a little worried that Michael Poore might be the only person writing books in this genre. So if you know any other writer who can do it too -- even if it's not up to Poore's level, I'm not expecting miracles -- please let me know. I can read them faster than Michael Poore can write them.
