chrismkayser 's review for:
The Amber Spyglass
by Philip Pullman
I flew through this book, the third in the trilogy. Maybe because I was on vacation, maybe because it was due back at the library literally yesterday...but I also just really needed to see where this story ended up.
This one was a bit more meandering than the others, and at times it was oddly paced. However none of that prevented me from enjoying it.
I loved Mary Malone. I loved the mulefa. That whole storyline reminded me of the Wrinkle in Time series, and a little bit of Arrival. The Gallevespians were a surprisingly endearing addition. I have mixed feelings about some of the character arcs for some of the adults in the story.
I was thrilled to see the conclusion of the story and I thought most of the characters' storylines came to a satisfying resolution.
I would definitely recommend the whole trilogy, and I definitely recommend reading it all at once like I did.
