THIS IS SO GOOD. LIKE REALLY, I GET WHY PEOPLE RECOMMENDED IT SO MUCH. IT'S A CLASSIC FOR A REASON.
This book has so many good moments and the best thing is that it does not implicitly tell you "they are lying, they are manipulating them, this is brain washing, this represents x" but you just stay there like:
:O *GASP
For example, some quotes that went somethign like "the favorite pet told stories to animals about sugar kingdom, a life where animals lived better. (heaven reference)... *later* animals believed it, because if life was this harsh, there surely must be a better land somewhere"
"Soon the animals couldn't even remember what it had been before the revolution, generations passed and this harsh life was all they knew" reference to North Korea and how people live trapped, not knowing the outside world is better
"I would read these documents to you but you don't know how to read." "The animals where not taught how to read or write, they were just taught the 7 laws." (knowledge retention is control)
How heroic stories about snowball *pig* are just like in North Korea, ideolozing their leader. brainwash
How little by little, they twist their own laws and change the small letters. How in the end, they look to pig to man, and man to pig. They are the same.
Everything about it was just perfect. From the start, it got my attention. Loved it. Highly shocking and leaves you thinking. WORTH READING 100%
