I remember this one being popular when it was published and never got around to it. I finally picked it up as it’s the June pick for my neighborhood book club. This one had a timely and poignant message. It made me ache for and cried with as well as laughed with, rooted for, and loved the characters. Their stories and relationships mattered deeply and drove this story. However, there were a lot of POVs so sometimes their stories didn’t feel quite fleshed out enough. I spent a lot of time wondering how they were all related to each other when I could see their direct ties. I found the plot to be unique and interesting. It held my interest and kept me turning pages. The questions it posed about life and death and choosing your own path were thought provoking. Unfortunately, the way things unraveled felt eerily familiar and completely believable as something that would happen in our world today if the similar circumstances occured. The ending wrapped things up and left a hopeful tone. The epilogue gave a good look into the future and how things worked out for them, but it wrecked me. So bittersweet.
