Tokyo Ever After by Emiko Jean

lighthearted relaxing fast-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? Character
  • Strong character development? It's complicated
  • Loveable characters? Yes
  • Diverse cast of characters? Yes
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

4.5

I'm sorry but I was literally screaming with excitement in the last 1/6th ahhhh

cons (lets get the few things out of the way)

- I wanted to see the child parent relationships to be explored more here (a personal preference)
- Izumi's character arc wasn't handled as well as I wanted it to be
- The third act conflict is something I'm tired of seeing in famous non famous person love stories
- A few things didn't logically make sense

pros (plenty off them lets go)

- izumi's dad is the cutest shut up
- akio, i need a akio oh my gosh
- akio and izumi were so freakin' cute, i would shriek at all of their cute moments
- that freakin' plot twist like whaaattt - not even the thrillers i've read recently were able to blow my mind like this book
- that ending with akio and izumi *sobs*
- such a fun and easy read that made me smile a lot

overall this was almost perfect and is the kind of contemporary romances i love - also netflix you love teen romcoms pls turn this book into a movie
