First in a series. Felix Gomez went to Iraq a soldier – he came back as a vampire. Now, Felix makes a living as a private detective with some advantages over his still-living counterparts. An old friend asks him to investigate a bizarre outbreak of nymphomania at a secret government facility in Rocky Flats, CO. Unfortunately, Felix’s powers seem to be waning – and the addition of shadowy government agents and some very determined vampire hunters make it seem that his “life” may soon come to an end. I like vampire stories. One of my favorite mystery series has been the Southern Vampire series by Charlaine Harris; but Acevedo mixed a few too many elements in this plot, and I just had an icky feeling about the attitudes about women in the story. I won’t be looking for the next in the series.
