The Stone Sky by N.K. Jemisin

5.0

This book is a masterpiece. I’ll be honest and say for the first two books I had really no idea what was going on or didn’t really feel that much emotional attachment to the characters. But this book changed that!

Everything got tied up so neatly and at point it was like a lightbulb where everything made sense. The author is a mastermind. She laid out all these little things that you didn’t really get until it all came together to make this one mind blowing picture.

where the first two books didn’t have me feeling emotionally involved this one absolutely did. I felt the raw emotion through the page. I cried multiple times. The ending really got to me.

This is story about helping the world be better and the sacrifices that we sometimes have to make to accomplish that.

The whole ending really had me so emotional. Finding out the stories of the stone eaters and how they connected to the present. Getting to know who Hoa was. Seeing both Nassun and Essun experiencing love in different forms even with the “world ending.” Learning about Schaffa and the guardians. Seeing the world after. It’s like finally understanding these characters and not just their stories but the paths they had to take. And now to see them all want to try to make everything better.

My fav quote:
“What is it that you want?” “Only to be with you,” I say. “Why?” I adjust myself to a posture of humility, with head bowed and one hand over my chest. “Because that is how one survives eternity,” I say, “or even a few years. Friends. Family. Moving with them. Moving forward.”
