Free Lunch by Rex Ogle

5.0

This was a powerful, sad, and raw memoir. While I had a lot of dislike for Rex's parents, I was also able to see their struggles as well. I felt for the author so much I felt the need to look him up on Instagram to make sure he was doing okay now. I highly recommend this book for middle grade/high school aged kids - at that age many could use a reminder of empathy (myself at that age included).

Read for the 2024 library challenge.
