Spider-Gwen: Gwen Stacy by Jason Latour

5.0

Loved the character art and look for a while. Finally picked up the comic and it’s great. (kinda lucked out and got a few reimagining of Marvel this go-round with deadpools secret war and SECRET WARS: ARMOR WARS) This was fun, loved the spider ham as jiminy cricket and the punishers mocking of the Ninja Turtles. The story, while a variation on a theme-and sits a little heavy on the guilt idea- felt fresh and full. The personal wrestling and isolation of Gwen form her parents and friends felt like high school. The bright colours give it a slightly feminine flavor and the sound effects worked into the colour palate was a great choice. I really enjoy when books through you into the story with no exposition or prologues and as a derivative story I think that adds to it feeling fresh is I know how the story is suppose to go and how it does fit together in this incarnation is fun to read along with the characters as they see the real story, not their own interpretation of it (Osborne/Gwen)
