I'm Glad My Mom Died
by Jennette McCurdy
challenging
dark
emotional
sad
medium-paced
With memoirs, I try to focus on the structure, though that can be hard to separate from the content. Structurally, this was great. McCurdy took us on a journey which I'm sure was therapeutic for her to write. I listened to the audiobook and McCurdy speaks fast, which I appreciated (I do the same). As for her life, I ache for her. With all the bad in the world, your parents should be your safety, your protectors. I’m glad she got her story out and definitely a story everyone should read.
