First of all, I loved this book, but it's not going to be for everyone.

There are 3 main characters and you jump around, both between perspectives and time periods. The audiobook uses different narrators and they all do a great job. The historical settings were fascinating and the descriptions were simply gorgeous.

The ending is satisfying, but I definitely wouldn't call it happy. I finished the book with this deep sense of still wanting, but that emotion itself mirrors the message of the book, and even though it was uncomfortable, it was the right ending for the story.

It's a heavier book, for sure. Themes of what makes a life worth living, your worth and value as a person, and the different ways we deal with and react to trauma.

Trigger warnings for SA, consent being ignored, domestic violence, implied suicide, and death.

It was a deep, thought-provoking, and emotional book, but not an easy one. Worth it if you're in a space to handle it.
