Monstrilio by Gerardo Sámano Córdova

dark emotional mysterious reflective sad medium-paced

5.0

this was bizarre, ghostly, sad and so good. I think it would have been even better if I read it in one go. this novel is an exploration of desire, grief, family and just wanting to be loved; and then all the carnality and monstrosity that comes with it.
I wasn’t expecting the story to be told in four  different povs, but I think it worked well for the varying themes in the book. their povs mostly gave concise glances into the story, but it painted each character’s monstrous identity so thoroughly.
is monstrilio human? or just a manifestation of human emotions? what makes monstrilio a human vs. a monster? I have been thinking about this book too much already.
