I previously watched the movie Nimona when it was first released on Netflix and absolutely adored it and related to the trials of the characters much more than I was expecting. I felt that the movie was powerful, moving and had a wonderfully complex message about society and how we treat its ‘villains’. I’m overjoyed to report that the graphic novel Nimona which it is based on is, in many ways, even better. The plot is filled with twists and turns, the relationships between the main cast is darker and more intense and it has even funnier moment than in the film. Both the graphic novel and its film adaptation are wonderful, it truly show a story from all sides and tells a tale that anyone who has been made to feel like an outcast and a ‘villain’ can connect with. A must read!
Graphic: Bullying, Child abuse, Confinement, Death, Torture, Forced institutionalization, Blood, Vomit, Police brutality, Grief, Fire/Fire injury, Injury/Injury detail, Classism, and Pandemic/Epidemic
