We Spread by Iain Reid

challenging dark reflective sad

5.0

Okay so Iain Reid is now one of my fave authors after reading this book "We Spread" and "I'm thinking of ending things."

I read We Spread in less than 24 hours, any moment I had free I would pick up the book. I loved the short chapters. The story is a slow burn, the dread increasing with every chapter. The ending is ambiguous, which for me tend to be a miss more often that not but i think this might be my my favourite "open to interpretation" ending of all time, I think it's brilliant. This book is thought provoking and sad, and had me feeling all kinds of emotions.

Read this if you like: psychological horror, slow burns, unreliable narrators, slow chapters, ambiguous endings, thought provoking stories, fear of aging.
