Midnight at the Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan
2.0
Going into this I wasn’t aware that Midnight at the Christmas Bookshop was a sequel and maybe that was my mistake but right now I cannot see how reading the first book could have made my reading experience better.
There are a few things that I genuinely enjoyed in this book like Carmen’s nieces and nephews who were incredibly cute and Mr. McCredie, the old, sometimes slightly confused bookshop owner. I loved the vibe of the bookshop… all the books scattered everywhere in the shop… the dream of every reader.
However I did not really enjoy the writing and how things or conversations were described. I expected a cute christmas romance but I kind of missed the romance and the christmas vibes. Yes, there is snow and talk of Christmas decorations but the whole christmassy vibe did not come across for me.
