I really enjoyed this story! I love the main characters, Max and Tis have a great dynamic, and I really love their growing relationship. Max is a refreshing MMC who is grumpy, traumatized, and badass.  Tis has overcome so much and is still soft, while being a badass and trying to protect everyone. She's a classic heroine, but she actually seems to ask for help sometimes AND doesn't run into situations alone if she can manage it. The plot is interesting, there are alot of morally gray characters, as well as a super interesting magic system. It's not as fleshed out as say a high fantasy novel, but the world-building and magic system are relatively easy to understand and very intriguing! I honestly can't wait to dive into the second book. I'm very glad that this is a completed series, because if I had to wait I would be really upset.

PLEASE check the trigger warnings for this book. There is a wide range of things that are described versus things that are mentioned as background events, but it could be very bad if you go in without warnings.
