I naively thought this book would feel like off-brand Circe (I'm a big Madeline Miller fan) but I am happy to be wrong and say that it actually felt like a very thoughtful addition to the genre of modern Greek myth retellings.
Jennifer Saint did a great job of making Ariadne a very good person with more of a soft, passive personality yet still giving her multiple very significant flaws that helped drive her characterization and advance the plot. I think this was pretty well-done across the board, with a couple notable exceptions who felt flat like King Minos and Hera, and even Theseus.
