straylight 's review for:
The Strain
by Guillermo del Toro, Chuck Hogan
This is a novel about modern day vampires. However, there are no sparkly vampires involved. This is vampirism portrayed as a deadly virus of pandemic proportions.
Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan have rewritten the rules in the first book of their trilogy. There are several viewpoints portrayed throughout the length of the book, but the main storyline follows Eph (a CDC doctor) as he struggles to understand just what's going on... and the eventual shift in mindset that this new threat requires of him.
This is the first novel in what will eventually become a trilogy. The second book, "The Fall", is already on shelves and the third book ("The Night Eternal") is scheduled to be released sometime in 2011.
