Snow, Glass, Apples by Neil Gaiman

4.0

My teacher introduced this short story to us. Initially only selected (punished) students are required to read and pass a reaction paper. My interest was piqued when she told us what it's about so I read it.

This adaptation of Snow White is in a league of its own. It's the kind of thriller that is set in a calm tone. No exaggeration of actions. It presents a chilly aura considering that the story mainly happened during the winter season. Things became really surprising halfway through the story -- the pedophilia and the little girl's action. The girl wasn't really introduced in depth and it left me wondering what she really is. Looking at the bigger picture the plot follows the dominant version of the story. I am left in awe at how Gaiman altered the details to result this version. As they say, a story is always different in everyone else's perspective.
