First Lord's Fury by Jim Butcher
3.0
This is just a quick thought on the series as a whole, now that I have finished. I loved the pacing of Butcher's Codex Alera, and his characters and world building are superb. With a six book series, all read in rapid succession, you do tend recognize his writing quirks (eye brows are constantly raising, as are small smiles curling from the edges of mouths, etc).
I thought that the end of the series had a little issue with power creep, but with the story he set up I suppose that was inevitable. The magic system was still believable at the end. . . but only barely. I'd say if you are a fantasy fan, this series is one that will hit all the right buttons.
