My first Bromance Book Club book (we just love reading out of order lol).
I've been wanting to read this series for a whileeee, and by chance of my sister actually having this book, I have now kinda started it. I feel no rush to read the first four, only because I have some amazing reads on my TBH that I would like to get to first! Plus, I already know I'll probably like the other books in the series so I can always go to them if I want a reliable contemporary romance read!
I liked the relationship between Gretchen and Colton, it was sweet, very safe, and comfortable. However, the book won me over because of the boyssss. The Bromance Book Club is so wholesome and adorable. THE WAY THESE MEN LOVE THEIR WOMEN UGH I CAN'T. Also, Roman? Does he appear in the other books? Because if so, I fully believe the last book in this series should be about him. It has to, RIGHT? Just like how the women fell for him, I have as well. He's so mysterious. And cheese, duh.
I liked how the author incorporated Christmas very well. It felt like a Christmas book, made me nostalgic, and wasn't extremely cheesy (there was, like, one other scene aside from the Roman scene that felt kinda Hallmark-y). The twist on A Christmas Carol was great and how it applied to Colton and Gretchen! I also read it every year and have seen all of its adaptions (even though the only adaption I like is Scrooged--is that actually an adaption though? And the Flintstones one. #FakeFan maybe? Probably).
I would recommend this book to someone who is over the age of 18, does not get the ick from a third-act breakup, and likes the grumpy/sunshine trope. Am I a recommendation girlie now? No, this is my way of saying there's sex in it without calling it out. There's, like, two scenes, so no one go clutching their pearls.
