I believe "The picture of dorian gray" to be pretentious in how it has been described by others to me, yet i still enjoyed the book. It could have lost 50% of the words and still had the same effect and moral ending.

My main take away from the book was that people (given the right mask) will do what they truly want and that Lord Henry never had one good opinion
