I deeply enjoyed the anime and so I was very excited to start the source material especially when I saw one of my favorite book tubers was hosting the readalong!
I still enjoy the experience of reading this! It read fast as the writing wasn’t anything crazy fancy yet still had its hard hitting quotes. It was written in 3rd person omniscient, which I feel I don’t read very often. I liked that I could see everyone’s thoughts though, very much added to the experience for me.
AND of course I love the time period it’s set in/inspired by and being able to deeply reflect on that time period of Chinese history as it’s inspired by Imperial China.
I am still very excited to continue and catch up to get to the new content! 👀🩶 Plus, I just LOVE our Maomao!
