Read this in college and reread 12 years later for the Arch-Conspirator retelling.
I remember really liking it on the first read and it lives up on the 2nd. I even forgot the ending a little. School reading is definitely different than reading for enjoyment though, so we probably had to pick it apart on the first read I had.
This is different than trying to understand Shakespeare so its one classic play that is easier to pick up.
Reading it as an adult was enjoyable. I connected to the politics a lot better, dealing with tyrants like Kreon going mad with power. Ignoring those who are giving sound advice.
Antigone standing up for what was honorable in spite of it meaning treason and death.
Loved it on the first read, loved it on this read. Will be enjoyable probably on the next reread.
