Happy Place by Emily Henry

2.0

Sometimes a book is so bad it makes me at a loss for words.

I haven't rated any of Emily Henry's books higher than 3 stars, and I won't be giving her a fifth try with her upcoming book either. Her writing is annoyingly repetitive, both across the books and individually. While she manages to explore some interesting themes in her stories, the composition of her writing, characters, plot, and so on is ultimately lacklustre. Her books are filled with cheesy dialogue and tropes, and I wouldn't be surprised if she's trying to emulate the classic romcoms of the early 2000's. But her books essentially falls short compared to them, and instead comes across super cringey
