Normal People
by Sally Rooney
This is a really challenging review to write because I’m not even really sure how I felt about this book.
I would say that I didn’t REALLY relate to the characters (and I even disliked both of them at times) but I truly did have sympathy for both of them in my heart. They both clearly had large issues within their own lives and seeing them attempt to navigate those while in relationships was painful and at times I was hoping that they would just leave each other alone for awhile.
I really enjoyed the structure of this book, I think that the directness of their narratives was exactly in line with their characters and made a ton of sense. This type of narration also focused much more on the characters rather than the plot, which is something that I’m not 100% sure that I liked but at the same time it made a ton of sense.
